Penn Staters invited to share feedback on draft Strategic Plan proposal

A draft proposal of Penn State’s institutional strategic plan has been unveiled and shared with the community for feedback and discussion. All faculty, staff and students at all campuses are encouraged to visit the Strategic Plan website to review and provide feedback on the draft plans for four goal areas.

Undergraduate research may contribute to COVID-19 treatments

Penn State alumna Nora Margulis, who graduated in 2022, was still taking her courses virtually in spring of 2021, working toward her undergraduate degree in biology at Brandywine when Anna Sigmon, assistant professor of chemistry, offered her the opportunity to collaborate on research that could potentially help society cope with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. She jumped at the chance.

Teacher at Sea program sends Brandywine geology professor trawling for data

Laura Guertin, distinguished professor of Earth science at Penn State Brandywine, celebrated National Ocean Month in June in a most appropriate way — she spent two weeks aboard a research vessel in the Gulf of Alaska. Guertin joined the expedition through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Teacher at Sea program. The NOAA ship Oscar Dyson’s mission was to assess the population and distribution of walleye pollock in the Gulf of Alaska.
